EXTRACT FOR Submit to His Passion (Asrai Devin)
Lindsay reached across the table and his heart quickened. He'd take the physical comfort. Speaking of his grandmother was like a punch in the nose. He missed her. Now she was gone, he had no family, no one who cared for him unconditionally. Her stories of Nick's father and occasionally his mother were his only link to his parents.
He rubbed her hand. "It was all worth it so you could touch me tonight," he said.
She scoffed but didn't pull away. "Just friends."
"Just friends," he repeated. It was a lie. Nick wanted more. He wanted to keep her so he could protect her. So he could make her smile. And make her come.
They finished their food then cleaned up the kitchen. He put the last plate away before facing her. "So will you run or will you stay?"
She lurched forward, wrapped her arms around him and kissed him. He stumbled back a half step before he caught them. "Sorry," she said. "I know I said friends."
He settled his hands on her lower back. "I don't mind mixed messages. We can make out and be friends. I make out with all my friends."
"Like the guy you had drinks at the bar with?" She smirked.
"He's married, and his wife objects, unfortunately for me. He's a nice looking man."
"I didn't notice. I was looking at you."
"Was that flirting Miss Miller?" He raised his eyebrows.
"It might have been, Mr. Matthews." He received a coy smile and a flutter of eyelashes.
He pinched her ass and she squealed. "Lindsay, we're grown-ups. So long as we don't lie, we can make any rules we want. We can be friends and kiss. We can date and not touch. The only limits are what you want." He brushed the back of his hand over her cheek.
Her lashes fluttered against her cheeks and laid still. She was beautiful, doubly so when she was demure like this. Was this pose of submission or fear? Damn, damn, double damn. Did he push her too far again? Scared her off by being too blunt?
He stepped back, so he wasn't touching her. "I went too far."
