"Hey, Dana, whatcha lookin at?"
The 50 year-old
banking executive was always
curious about the activities and interests of Dana, his
gorgeous 18 year-old stepdaughter - what she was doing, what she was
thinking, what she was wearing. and who she was dating. Above all, he was especially curious about
her sex life, although he kept that strictly on the down low.
"Oh, just
some random photos that my Mom and you took a few years ago", she replied
quietly, turning the pages slowly and
wistfully.
It had
been three years since she'd lost her
mother to cancer. Her reaction to that
trauma was deep and immediate. She
practically became a recluse, but every now and then she'd thumb
through the old photo album hoping that
somewhere in the pages she could lose herself in the images as she'd done when her mother was so vibrantly alive. Unfortunately, she had to face the fact
that the impossible dream of recapturing
any semblance of a stable and normal
home life had long since vanished.
Her
stepfather, Dan, always seemed to be hovering
around, even at her most private moments, inquiring about what she was doing and even giving his (unasked for) opinions about her clothing,
her boyfriends and her current hobbies. Instead of finding happiness, peace of
mind and solitude, all she found was
sorrow and a sense of despair and
loneliness. And worst of all, at 18, she
was still a virgin, a situation that filled her with a mix of shame and
anxiety. Although he did his best and
had always treated her with kindness, her stepfather simply could not fill the
void of so many things that had gone wrong in her life lately.
Dan leaned
over her shoulder in a rather obtrusive
manner. Dana felt a bit
uncomfortable yet excited in a way she couldn't quite explain.
"Ahh,
look at that photo, that's your mother and me when we were
in school, years before we were
married."
Sitting next to her on the bed, he couldn't
help but admire Dana's stunning beauty and tight, athletic body. He'd observed
her physical attributes for
years, sneakily, without her noticing.
He didn't want her to think he was a pervert or anything like that! He'd always thought of himself as a moral,
upstanding type of guy.....".
