"Wait, Sherm, no. Please don't. Keith wasn't too happy about it. I already invited him over for the party, he refused. Sorry, we'll just have to keep it quiet," Avalon said and led the man back inside, shutting the door being him. That's the last thing she needed was for her friend to march downstairs and piss off her new neighbor even more.

The party wasn't as fun with the music barely playing. The guests could only hear it from the front room and then people talked louder than the music. Avalon shrugged sadly as several asked if they could turn up the volume just a little. "Can't, promised the neighbor I'd keep it low."

Someone snuck to the stereo and very little at a time over the next half hour, increased the volume of the music. Avalon got caught up in her wine coolers and laughing and dancing with her friends that she really didn't notice. That is until the banging on the door happened.

Keith held up his phone, a frown firmly planted on his face. "You don't make good on your promises, do you? Music is too loud. It's disturbing my attempts at getting rest. I'm calling the police and perhaps they can shut down your loud music." He acted as if he were about to punch in the phone number to the police.

"Wait, no please. Why don't you come in for a few? Have a beer. Let's get to know each other," Avalon begged. Her guests were set on having a good time with the music blaring and to her the night was young since it wasn't even midnight yet. "This is my first real apartment where I can have over a few friends. Come on inside, let's be friends."

"No, I don't feel like partying. I'm calling the cops," Keith said angrily as he swiped his finger over the phone screen.

Avalon stepped out into the hall quickly and shut the door behind her. She placed her hand over Keith's and lowered the phone, causing his finger to stop dialing. "Please, can't we come to some sort of compromise here." She was set on not disappointing her guests. And besides, the music wasn't that loud. She could hear it from the hall, but it wasn't blaring. It was a pleasant volume.
