STORY DESCRIPTION

Isabella gazed numbly at the chaos of the pirates' attack. Blood and bodies littered the quarterdeck, small fires burned everywhere. Occasionally a scream cut through the wispy black smoke.

They had stripped her to the waist and tied her arms over the ship's rail. Another girl, similarly bound and shattered, was crying softly at her side. Two Moors stood guard, preventing others from getting too close. They were exotics, the captain said, too valuable to waste on rabble.

The Moorish leader's plan was to attack shipping, draw Venice into a sea battle, then attack the city from the land. Once Venice was destroyed, they would plunder Europe without opposition. The exotics they found would be sold on the Eastern slave markets to fund his conquest of the continent.
