STORY DESCRIPTION The King is dead. Long live the... King? Surely not! This base born commoner! It will surely not do. Every right thinking member of the aristocracy would know that no peasant could ever receive the mandate of heaven ,the divine right to rule! But it would seem that this low born usurper thinks to legitimize his claim by marriage to the Queen, newly widowed thanks to his successful uprising. But surely her Majesty would never submit to his filthy predilictions?
Andrew: The King is dead, and good riddance. But now the neighboring rulers will see the successful revolution as a threat to their own legitimacy. Only through matrimony to the slain tyrant's widow will stave off the assault, by allowing the neighbors to justify failure to go to war by recognizing "divine right." But there could surely be little pleasure to be had in marriage to a she-dragon such as the royal harridan. But it seems there must be one final conflict to be had, one last battle before the end. |
