Similar in style & setting to the Allan Aldiss "Barbary " sagas . Well
written scenes of the capture & degradation of a lovely Irish girl in

An earlier Argus, and hence more brutal than of late. Set in the early
1800's. A long book with much sex and interminable beatings. It
progresses from one scenario to another all with similar degradation
and 'training' as the subject progresses from a well bred young lady
into a sex thing. Arabs, black Africans, tribesmen, randy sailors all
take her and use her, mostly without giving her any pleasure. The
ending was somewhat satisfactory as she becomes a slave owner herself,
in the US south. Should really be a 4 but it does go on and I became
bored. 3 out of 5 (Sooty)
