 | STORY DESCRIPTION Madeline was coming home after a month-long marathon on the road on a special project for her boss. She was tired and fed up with all the travel, meetings, crappy hotel and airport food, and fending off drunken executives following her presentations. But life back home, though she did indeed want to get back, was not exactly a bowl of cherries waiting for her to dig in. Her husband, Mark, had been growing increasingly snippy and short with her on her calls back as his annoyance with having to hold down he fort for them was obvious.
Maddie was reaching the end of her metaphorical rope with him following the lingering pain and anguish she still carried from his affair with this paralegal in his office. They had been through couples counseling and Mark had sworn to her it was just one-time misstep. But Maddie was not so sure anymore. He was still distant at times and now that she had been away all this time, his phone etiquette made her wonder if he was fucking her again. All Maddie could see in her mind at the moment was Mark atop that huge-breasted little tramp humping away while she screamed in delight, her long legs wrapped tight around him.
They had once had a wonderful life together, but Maddie was feeling more and more as if maybe the shelf life on the relationship had expired. She just wanted to get home, unwind and resolve things with Mark once and for all. But when her flight from Houston to Denver, the last leg on this seemingly endless journey, go cancelled due to a storm that blew up from Mexico, Maddie felt utterly defeated. The to make matters worse she could not find a hotel vacancy due to a convergence on multiple conventions in Houston just then.
But when a stranger on her flight, Helen, came to her rescue offering to share her room, Maddie felt better. But when she got few drinks in her, Maddie's dam burst as she used Helen for a sounding board on her predicament at home. The young blonde Helen was sympathetic and comforting to Maddie and before she knew it she and Helen were doing much more than just talking and commiserating. Has Maddie crossed a line she never thought she would or was this just a one-time thing for her as well in a moment of emotional neediness? As well, Maddie had never been with a woman before...but as their time together progressed, Maddie wondered if Helen might indeed be her future.
| Author information: David grew up all over, being the child of a military family. He has spent time in Germany and Austria, Italy, and Spain as well as the United States. He found a calling for the creative arts early in life, and pursued some initial interests in sculpture and painting before finding his true calling as a writer. David has a definite "adult-theme" in his writing as he branches out in his interests in human relationships and sexuality. He was exposed to a much more open and liberal lifestyle during his early life in Europe and this is reflected in his writing now.
David lives part-time here in the US in Taos, NM, and part-time in Spain with his wife, Francesca, with their 2 cats, Aristotle and Plato, near the Sant SebastiĆ Beach just outside Barcelona. Though not particularly obvious in his writing, David credits his wife and her cats--her "Zen-masters" as she refers to them--as a primary source of his inspiration and creativity. In addition to his creative writing, David still spends time immersed in his initial artistic interests as he anticipates a public showing of some of his sculpture and painting in local galleries in Barcelona and Santa Fe in late 2020.
