 | STORY DESCRIPTION The world of BDSM can be a complex and confusing place.
This erotic fiction book from John Gemini follows the story of a trained psychotherapist and practicing dominatrix, who finds herself at the heart of a tangled web of intrigue, crime and passion. A place where consent, consensual non-consent, and outright non-consent is sometimes blurred, and even the most seasoned players can be taken by surprise.
For some, BDSM is a way to find control or to give it up completely; for others, it's a place where the boundaries of pleasure, pain and restraint become wonderfully entwined. For some, it's both-and more. A place where carnal desires are laid bare, where trust is earned, gained and surrendered, where you can find yourself, and sometimes lose yourself, in the dance of power exchange.
A few lucky people know exactly what they want from it. But many battle through their conflicting thoughts and emotions, struggling to reconcile their kinky needs with societal norms and personal expectations. A few of these choose to go to a professional to help them understand and explore their deep seated desires and urges.
That's where the therapist comes in. She's seen it all and tries to balance the complexities of her own professional life and desires with the complicated relationships she encounters along the way.
Does anyone truly understand the mindfuck of needing to be helplessly restrained, humiliated and beaten? Or is this perhaps a subject that is best left unexplored, a dark rabbit hole to just jump down without over analysing the reasons behind it?
And no this isn't a psychology book. It's a work of erotic fiction with a storyline, relatable characters and plenty of kinky scenes, but it may well make you think a little and maybe that's no bad thing. | Keywords related to this title - click on a keyword to find more, related stories BDSM Femdom Dominatrix Bondage Long term Restraint Captivity Impact Punishment Smoking fetish Abduction F/m Author information: "BDSM.... John Gemini is English and lives with his wife and slave, Sarah in their remote farmhouse in the south of France. John and Sarah Gemini are pen names but they are actually an experienced real life M/s couple and have been active in the BDSM scene for over 10 years, regularly attending munches and play events.
They write BDSM based fiction stories, both individually and together as a bit of fun and a way of expressing their creativity and shared love of all things kinky. Ideas for their books are often based on actual scenes they have done. This sometimes works the other way with experiences dreamed up in their writing then being tried and tested in the playroom John has built at their home. Sarah's imagination often gets her in trouble when one of her ideas is made a reality!
They are both fascinated by the mindset within BDSM, the consensual power exchange involved and the heightened pleasure and love gained from the dynamics of an M/s relationship. External Reviews *****
John Gemini takes the reader down a delicious rabbit hole of BDSM exploration in “The Therapist”. Said rabbit hole is not straight; however. It is replete with twists and turns.
“The Therapist” largely takes place within a dungeon--or two. Captivity dungeons are used on the willing as well as the not-so-willing... and many times, those categories overlap and flip. Likewise, the plot contains revenge, exploration, love, understanding, deception, sex, and psychology... and often, those plot lines converge and reverse--sometimes more than once.
Aside from the hot and hardcore BDSM scenes, Gemini provides a keen psychology to every character. Why does a submissive endure pain and torture? What motivates a dominant? How does one begin a kinky journey? When does it become too much? And who will be the one to say enough is enough?
Gemini does a marvelous job explaining and confirming that kinky thoughts and actions are not deviant. In fact, his characters realize that being kinky is normal, not shameful; just a part of who someone is.
A minor warning to those who dislike hardcore BDSM, especially in a nonconsensual setting. While there are scenes that are difficult to take and step outside of proper protocol, all are done for the sake of plot and character development. In fact, most of the negative aspects are explained psychologically and are corrected.
“The Therapist” is a dizzying take on who’s captured and who’s in charge, leaving the reader questioning, on edge, and aroused.
Highly recommended!
