STORY DESCRIPTION

Global warming is coming, and we cannot reliably predict its social and political outcomes. As millions of people flee intolerable heat and drought, it is obviously possible that in more temperate areas they might find refuge only as second-class citizens, with an inferior status that might in time evolve into slavery. Once re-established as a social norm, the very poor and those convicted of crimes might find themselves in servitude. Then, as the post-warming political structure of Europe crumbles, with regions becoming prizes in a struggle between warlords, the populations of conquered territories might be treated as booty to be sold in slave-markets, the proceeds used to pay the soldiers who serve the new, military aristocracy.

I, the narrator of this story, have been very fortunate to inherit both extensive estates and the favour of one of the most powerful warlords; the ruler of much of the West Midlands of England. As he exploits the disorder and disharmony in the neighbouring areas, in his service I gain rapidly in power and riches. Although my needs and appetites are modest, my rising status compels me to accept more land with more households, which I must people with slaves, many of whom are the inhabitants of the newly acquired lordships. I find that I possess the skills that I need to convert relatively unpromising material into able and effective pleasure slaves, as well as ponygirls and boys, and hucows. My rise to wealth and power is not without its dangers, however, and I owe my escape from disaster to the loyalty of both my slaves and my political allies.

This is a story with a narrative combined with strong erotic elements. The geographical area is real, although the landscapes have been altered over time by rising temperatures and sea levels. Most of the buildings are fictitious.
