STORY DESCRIPTION

Another New Government story set slightly further down the timeline. The ruling Patriarchy has joined forces with the newly resurgent Church and is using it as another level of bureaucracy to help control the population. Consequently, religious officials have now regained the sort of power that they haven't enjoyed for several hundred years.

The return of archaic Parish rules and regulations and the introduction of Moral Welfare Councils have helped the Church control the people. These along with a raft of complimentary new legislation from the New Government means that the Church is once again the centre of most people's lives.

But in this case the Church is a strict, authoritarian upholder of "traditional values" and "family life". Church attendance is mandatory; a 10% tax on all working people is donated every month to the Church. Church officials are now much valued, respected and it has to be said, feared members of the local community, tasked with upholding the morality of the Church using any means necessary.

This 20k word story follows a selection of women who for one reason or another have fallen foul of the zealotry of their own parish councils and who now have to pay the price via corporal punishment and the shame and humiliation associated with it.
