STORY DESCRIPTION

The second in the jointly-authored Maria's Downward Spiral saga. This carries on from the popular 'Bank to Bordello' but can of, of course, be read separately. Some characters from the original are involved in the new book, some fresh characters are introduced.

All of those opposed to the new, patriarchal government will still continue to suffer under the Draconian new rules and regulations. Women are rapidly reduced to the status of second class citizens.

Sacked, or at best demoted, from their professional jobs and required to give up their previously comfortable lifestyles, women everywhere are in retreat. No job means no salary, no salary under the new system means penury, penury leads inexorably to the workhouse. The only possible option to avoid this fate for many single women is to find a protector, a mentor, a man willing and able to take her under his wing.

So many women are desperate to find a mentor within the allotted time span that men have multiple choices. And that means that not all mentors are suitable...far from it. This is the story of how a future, strictly patriarchal, society might look.
