STORY DESCRIPTION

Return to Mainland 3 is the third book in the best-selling Return To Mainland series, an offshoot of the Penal Colony 9 and State Orphanage 17 stories by Velvetglove (PC9) and Charles Ryder (SO17).

Book 3 follows the new adventures of the characters from the original stories, and introduces some new ones. The theme of the story, the return from a notorious Penal Colony of an assortment of the former privileged elite to be reintegrated into normal society, remains the same.

The economic situation in Mainland has worsened considerably. Despite the money saved by returning parolees being made to work for free on Mainland, the People's Government is rapidly running out of funds. To counter this, the government has started to criminalise its own citizens, confiscating their wealth and consigning them to prison with hard labour.

The result of which means that the amount of slave labour available to the State is being increased on an almost daily basis. Even completely innocent citizens and former supporters are being swept up in the hurry to try and save the country from imminent economic collapse.

Even those previously considered to be beyond the scope of the People's Government legislation are becoming fearful. This novel follows the trials and tribulations of just some of the unfortunate citizens of Mainland. Something will clearly have to give.
