Well to write that this is routine Argus would be to do it an
injustice. Yes it has all the elements of JJ's signature black on
white dialogue and descriptions, but it is particularly well written
and developed in the early parts of the novel, so that it actually
takes the reader along with the girl's frustrations and desires. Some
may find the slower beginning frustrating but for me it added to the
enjoyment. There is a last chapter where big black lesbians are
introduced. I will never understand why Argus feels the need to
introduce these perversions into a thoroughly heterosexual account,
but perhaps it helps to widen the readership. The wind up is short as
is familiar with this author, but it draws the narrative to a
satisfactory conclusion. Recommended. 4 out of 5 (Sooty)
