Dana's Release by Laura Hammond is a rare find. A BDSM ghost story
that's well done and highly erotic without sacrificing the story
itself. Dana is a writer and artist who rents a house that has one
slight problem, it's haunted by Michael. Dana, however doesn't mind.
She's always been in touch with the supernatural and finds Michael
engaging and fun. Dana also loves submission and is introduced by
Geri (her best friend) to a dominant, Peter, who finds himself taken
by her as no other submissive has done. Dana feels the same
connection and we know they'll be great together. Michael's quest for
revenge is the basis for the story and while the connections that turn
up strain crediluity at times, the story is everything you want from
both genres, ghost and BDSM. Hammond handles the BDSM scenes like
someone who knows the ropes herself and delivers a truly engaging and
different story. This is well worth the time and money.

 | STORY DESCRIPTION SHE LONGED TO SURRENDER! Dana, a feminist, had always had fantasies about bondage and discipline as long as she could remember. Then she moved into an old house with a mysterious history. There, through very vivid dreams she is taken into erotic BDSM experiences by the gorgeous ghost who inhabits her home, but soon, that leaves her wanting more and she craves the real thing. Soon, Dana is taken to an alternative club by a friend, and there she meets Peter Weston, known as the Lieutenant. Dana and Peter's meeting is like flame to tinder. When the Lieutenant demands she accompany him home, Dana obeys. On an erotic journey of self discovery, Dana finds her feminist ideals seeming to vanish when she discovers the freedom of total surrender. Willingly bound in ropes and chains, Dana willingly and obediently becomes Peter's love slave. "Enthralling, tantalizing, heady," Sibly Whyte, former editor, The Fetish Times.

I've also possessed an deep interest in the Paranornal. Thus many of my writing endeavours tend to touch upon this theme as a sub-genre. I started out writing romantic/paranormal fiction, and in one of my romantic novels which was published by Renaissance e-books, I ventured into the erotica arena. The typical vanilla romantic love scenes felt mind-numbingly tedious to write at that point.
It was then suggested to me that I should try writing in the erotica genre. Initially I doubted my ability to create a complete erotica novel, but I soldiered on anyway, and Dana's Release and Handcuffs and Roses are the result...still touching on the romantic/paranormal theme, but in a BDSM context. Both books were well received at Renaissance and have sold quite well there. Reviews Dana's Release by Laura Hammond is a rare find. Laura Hammond External Reviews Dana is a feminist that is why she cannot understand her desire to be submissive. It doesn’t seem to fit in with her ideals. She fantasizes about it but she has never experienced it before. Then she rents a house from a woman named Geri. When she moves in she notices that there is something different about the house but she isn’t sure what it is. After moving in she starts having vivid dreams of a blonde man dominating her. He just happens to be Michael the resident ghost. They become friends. After a while she wants to bring her dreams into reality so she agrees to go to a club with Geri and ends up meeting Pete a Dom that come highly recommended. When he tells her that she is going home with him she does and her dreams come true. The more time she spends with him the more she falls for him. The only problem is she has feelings for Michael too even though she knows that nothing can come of it because he is a ghost. The more Geri comes around the weirder Michael seems to get. Eventually Pete sees Michael and becomes jealous of their “relationship” and wants her to choose between the two of them. Which one will she choose? Will she follow her heart? Or will she play it safe?
Michael was killed fifteen years ago by the woman he loved. He had done nothing but think about revenge. Part of his plan was making his house, which is now hers, unlivable. He has scared all the tenants away so that she won’t be able to make money off of his death. That changed when Dana walked through the door. He was attracted to her and he could tell that she needed release. He could only provide it in her dreams. He must figure out a way to make Geri pay for what she did. He must recruit Dana somehow but he isn’t sure how. When she brings Pete home it complicates things but he must make her pay for her crime against him before he can rest in peace. When he makes himself known to Pete he isn’t too happy about it and he refuses to live in the same house as him. It upsets Dana and he must console her all while coming up with his plan. Will his plan work? Or will Geri continue to get away with murder? What will happen if it does work?
Pete is a Dom and he knows what he likes. When his ex, Geri, introduces him to Dana he knows that they will be a good match. He takes her home and she proves him right. He wants to spend more time with her and they agree to explore things further. He has a bit of jealous streak but he is a good guy. The more time they spend together the more he realizes that he is in love with her and he is pretty sure that she is in love with him too. When she wins a bet he has to play the submissive, a role that he has never played before because he hasn’t trusted anyone before and he is not a switch. He could swear that he saw someone else there but that couldn’t be. When Michael finally reveals himself he isn’t thrilled because he can tell that Dana has some sort of relationship with him and she is his. He tries to convince her to have him exercised or to move in with him but she refuses and that upsets him. He tells her that she can’t have it both ways that it is him or the ghost. Will he be able to handle it if she chooses him? When he talks to her again he agrees to help her help Michael catch his killer because he agrees to leave after that. Will Michael’s plan work? Will he and Dana truly be alone afterwards? Or will he always have to contend with a ghost?
I really enjoyed Dana’s Release. It was a great story. I must admit though that it didn’t capture my attention right away like I thought it would. It took me a bit to get into it but once I did I couldn’t put it down. I really liked Michael’s character. I like how he was able to make himself known when he wanted to. I also felt a bit sorry for him because he was betrayed by the one he loved. I liked how he became friends with Dana and was watching out for her. I liked Pete too even though he has a bit of a jealous streak. He was a good Dom and he really cared for Dana. I liked that he was a man of his word as well, he followed through with his word and that shows his character. Dana was an interesting character as well. I liked that she didn’t scare easily and was able to befriend Michael. I would recommend Dana’s Release to anyone who enjoys erotic romances and paranormal romances. Review:
I loved Dana’s Release for several reasons. First, I am quite familiar with the area of Toronto close to Casa Loma. I have visited older stately houses there, and have toured the lovely Casa, as well. Second, any Canadian is as familiar with the Weston name as Americans are with the Rockefellers, although I’m pretty sure Pete Weston is a figment of the author’s imagination. The Westons own grocery and pharmacy chains, as well as Holt Renfrew, which has always been a favorite shopping mecca of all the females of my family.
Next, how can you go wrong with a nice love story, resident ghost with a temper, a 15-year-old murder mystery, lots of hot sex, with an overlay of BDSM? Dana is in love with Pete, known in the BDSM world as the Lieutenant (Pronounced LEFFtenant like the British do, in Canada). She’s also a bit in love with Michael, the ghost who inhabits her house. The three need to solve the mystery of Michael’s murder and bring the killer to justice. I loved the story, the dialog, the characters, word pictures of surroundings plus what everyone was wearing, setting, and will be looking for more by Hammond, although there is no bio in the book, and I couldn’t find a website or locate her books on Amazon.
